Recently the Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the construction of Asia’s longest bi-directional Zojila Pass tunnel at an estimated cost of Rs 6,089 crore, which will reduce the travel time through Zojila Pass to 15 minutes from the current 3.5 hours.
TimesOfIndia reported that the approval of this project will reduce the time of Srinagar to Leh to 15 minutes.
Some other News sites which have good amount of followers reported this too.
WION News which has 327,554 followers on FB reported this something like this:
NewsHead.in reported “With Cabinet giving green signal to Zojila Pass tunnel project worth Rs 6,089 crore, the travel time between Srinagar and Leh will come down to 15 minutes from current 3.5 hours”
Though TimesOfIndia later issued a Corrigendum: An earlier version of this agency story wrongly mentioned that the travel time between Srinagar and Leh would be reduced to 15 minutes. The proposed tunnel would reduce the travel time of crossing Zojila Pass from 3.5 hours to 15 minutes. The error is regretted.
Smriti Irani tweeted on Friday saying “Srinagar to Leh in 15 minutes: Cabinet approves Zojila Pass tunnel project” quoting TimesOfIndia story.
She got trolled for this. Nitin A. Gokhale “National Security Analyst” pointed out to correct her tweet
Twiterratis trolled her while Smriti Irani didn’t delete her tweet yet.
