Of late, there is a viral message which is giving misleading information to the people of India who are in need of blood. The misleading information states that the 104 will be a special emergency number in India for blood requirements. The service is named as “Blood on Call”. The full message is this

From Today Onwards, ‘104’ is going to be a special number in India for blood requirements. “Blood On Call” is the name of the service.. After calling this number, blood will get delivered within Four Hour in a radius of 40kms.. Rs.450/ per bottle plus Rs.100 for transportation. Plz forward this message . Many lives can be saved by this facility……..

This post is viral on WhatsApp nowadays with the above caption and people are giving credit to PM Modi for this. But this was launched and inaugurated by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan under Manmohan Singh Government so credit goes to Manmohan Singh.
So both claims seems to be fake.
Further we tried to analyse the usage in our country, we found different states has 104 number for different purpose. Here are few
In Telangana state, you can dial 104 only for getting medical information and avail counselling services from doctors and trained paramedics.
In Punjab also, you can dial 104 for getting medical information, advice, and avail counselling services from trained paramedics and doctors.
In Rajasthan, you can dial 104 for calling Ambulance. This number is not available for blood requirements.
Base on above information, social media message claim found to be misleading. Neither the blood on call service has been started by Modi nor it started for whole India.
